Full Time or Locum ER Physicians

6 bed ED with 2 resuscitation rooms, two general rooms and two specialty areas for orthopedics and minor procedures. 64 slice high resolution CT scanner on site. Hospital has 30 Acute Care beds and 30 Rehab and Chronic Care. Three active operating rooms. Full time anaesthesia and surgical coverage.

Practice Dates and Hours

Ongoing need for 12 or 24 hour shifts throughout year, can work one or two shifts or numerous shifts 

Patient Volume

Level 3: 18,000 per year.

Travel Allowance

Dates are flexible throughout year. Typically 12 hour shifts, 24 available upon request. 

Level 3A ER - AFA. Shifts are 12 or 24 hours on site.  Approx 18,000 visits/year. Full time NP in the department to see lower acuity patients.

Remuneration: ~$310

Travel costs are reimbursed 100% from HFO locum programs. There is also a $600 per day travel honorarium paid for arrival and departure day. 10% shadow billing bonus. 25% shadow billing bonus for summer and stat holidays

Accommodation Offered

Fully furnished homes/apartments, walking distance from LVGH, $120-130 per day, if not occupied. Receipts available from Riverside Health Care for full reimbursement from HFO locum programs. Payment for locum housing can be made at front desk of La Verendrye General Hospital with debit or credit card.  Local hotels also available.  Recruiter available for logistical support.  We also have excellent hotels with lakefront or regular rooms and long term stay.

Call Arrangements

On call is currently 1-in-8 shared by local doctors and locums. 12 or 24 hour shifts depending on personal preference.

"Level 3" ER paid under EDAFA Emergency Department Alternate Funding Agreement approx $310 hr

If interested in Full Time ER position (or combination of Family Med and ER), the local Fort Frances and District Recruitment Committee offers a Community Incentive for a three to five year return of service and reimbursement for moving expenses. Memberships to local municipal gym, pool and marina. To qualifying family physicians, the Northern Rural Recruitment and Retention Initiative (NRRRI), provides $122,000 incentive over four years. Teaching Opportunity
