Position Details

Role: Locum coverage for maternity leave 

Dates: January 2027 – September 2027

Setting: Headwaters Health Care Centre, Orangeville, Ontario

This role is a great opportunity for a new graduate or early-career paediatrician looking to gain broad experience in general and consulting paediatrics in a supportive, community hospital setting — without a long-term commitment. There is also potential for ongoing work beyond this period if it’s a good fit.

You would be joining a group of 3 full-time and 2 part-time paediatricians, providing both inpatient and outpatient care to children in the Dufferin region.

This locum position entails up to 4 to 7 call shifts per month with the option of also doing outpatient clinic work.  Starting January 1, 2027. Ending August 31, 2027. Precise dates and number of shifts is negotiable.

Clinical Work

• Level 1 nursery and paediatric ward
• Attendance at higher-risk deliveries
• ER consultations and admissions
• Home call (within a 30-minute radius of the hospital)

Outpatient work includes general consulting paediatrics, with clinics located in a private office adjacent to the hospital. Our group does not offer primary care.

Compensation

Competitive compensation through our APP. In addition to a stipend, physicians receive a percentage of shadow billings plus HOCC.
