Halton Healthcare
About Halton Healthcare
Halton Healthcare is an award-winning community hospital system serving more than 400,000 residents across Oakville, Milton, and Halton Hills—one of Ontario’s fastest-growing regions. Accredited with Exemplary Standing by Accreditation Canada, we are committed to compassionate, high-quality, patient-centred care.
Affiliated with McMaster University and Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), Halton Healthcare is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.
About the Department
The Cancer Care Clinic at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH) functions as a Level 3 Affiliate to the Regional Cancer Centre, delivering comprehensive, state-of-the-art systemic therapy, consultation clinics, and diagnostic assessment programs. Our collaborative, inter-professional oncology team consists of medical oncologists, malignant hematologists, palliative care physicians, nurse practitioners, specialized oncology nurses, pharmacists, and dedicated allied health professionals.
We are seeking a General Practitioner in Oncology (GPO) to participate in the Cancer Care Clinic along with our current GPO. The practice currently has a focus on breast cancer survivorship, while also supporting a smaller number of patients with other cancer diagnoses. This opportunity offers flexibility to shape and expand the clinical scope over time, reflecting the successful candidate’s interests and experience and the evolving priorities of the program.
What We Offer
· A State-of-the-Art Environment: Work out of the modern, 1.6 million square foot acute care facility at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.
· Collaborative Inter-professional Culture: Engage daily with a robust multidisciplinary team focused on patient safety, quality improvement, and clinical excellence.
· Academic & Teaching Opportunities: Participate in the education and mentorship of medical students and residents through our affiliations with McMaster University and Toronto Metropolitan University.
· Professional Growth: Align closely with the Mississauga Halton Central West Regional Cancer Program to participate in regional Multidisciplinary Case Conferences (MCCs).
What We Are Looking For
· Licensure & Qualifications: Must hold an independent license with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) and be in good standing.
· Certification: Certification in Family Medicine by the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP).
· Specialized Training: Completion of an Enhanced Skills Fellowship in GP-Oncology (or equivalent comprehensive clinical experience in a hospital-based oncology or breast disease environment).
· Core Competencies: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a demonstrated commitment to team-based inter-professional care, and an interest in hospital quality improvement initiatives.
· Clinical Adaptability: Comfort with electronic medical records (EMRs) and a strong interest in optimizing regional cancer survivorship and supportive care.
