PRACTICE PROFILE
The Psychiatry Department at Lake of the Woods District Hospital (LWDH) in Kenora offers a rewarding full-time opportunity within a supportive, collegial, and community-centered environment. Psychiatrists provide a dynamic mix of inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and on-call coverage, supported by a strong interdisciplinary team:
- Inpatient service with 8–12 beds on the Psychiatry Unit, where psychiatrists serve as MRP for all admissions.
- Daily multidisciplinary rounds, ED consults prioritized to minimize wait times, and consult support for medical/surgical inpatients.
- On-call duties for LWDH (24/7 coverage) and regional transfer requests from surrounding communities (0700–1500).
- Locum opportunities available through Health Force Ontario’s Northern Specialist Locum Program.
INCENTIVES & RECRUITMENT SUPPORT:
• Up to $120,488 in financial incentives through the Northern Rural
Recruitment & Retention Initiative (NRRRI) for a four-year commitment
• Relocation support, and assistance with travel and accommodations
QUALIFICATIONS
• CPSO Independent registration with (or eligible for)
• FRCPC (Psychiatry) with or without subspecialty
