Exciting Opportunity for General Surgeons at Guelph General Hospital

Guelph General Hospital (GGH) is inviting applications for a General Surgeon to join our collegial and supportive surgical group. This is a full-time position starting January 2026.

The Position

The successful candidate will provide a full spectrum of general surgery services, including outpatient, inpatient, emergency, endoscopy, and operative care.

• Elective surgical practice and ACS participation
• Call coverage 1 in 8 with a dedicated ACS schedule model, ensuring protected time for acute surgical patients
• Resources available include:
  • 37.5 hours of dedicated OR time per month
  • Endoscopy time
  • Ambulatory care clinic time

This position also offers opportunities for teaching through McMaster University’s Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine.

Qualifications

• Certification in General Surgery by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC)
• Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
• Strong clinical and operative skills across the breadth of general surgery
• Demonstrated leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with a commitment to teamwork and collaboration
