Job Description
General Surgeon Locum(s) Fort Frances. We have an ongoing need for locums. One, two or three week blocks. Call is normally Monday 0800 to following Monday 0800, but we are flexible. Northern Specialist Locum Program NSLP provides all travel, accommodation reimbursement and stipend. Local recruiter is available for housing and logistics.
Common procedures are urgent general surgery procedures (i.e cholecystecomy, appendectomy, endoscopy etc.) Additional skills in orthopeadics, gynecology, trauma would be an asset but not essential. Surgeons are supported the Northwestern Ontario Regional Surgical Network connecting the surgeons based in Dryden, Kenora, Sioux Lookout and Fort Frances.
The elective workload is varied and call, typically, is not demanding. Fort Frances has modern OR theatres with fully integrated MIS suite, backed up by contemporary imaging, access to urgent radiology reading, lab services and ER services covered full time. Family physicians provide anesthesia support and cover the emergency department seeing approximately 19,000 visits per year.
Fort Frances is a rural, remote borderland community serving a catchment area of 18,000 residents. More information on Fort Frances and the surrounding communities available at www.recruitdocsff.ca or contact ***@recruitdocsff.ca (🔒 Premium).
