The
Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) - Saskatoon is seeking a Hematological Pathologist to join our dynamic and expanding Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The successful candidate will work in an independent, contract position within an academic-based practice.
Preference will be given to applicants with expertise or interest in flow cytometry. Opportunities for leadership roles within the Saskatchewan Health Authority may be available for candidates with appropriate experience and qualifications.
The Department integrates academic, research, and service activities. It has an accredited residency training program in Diagnostic and Clinical Pathology and provides training at the undergraduate, graduate, and post-doctoral levels. The successful applicant will work in a multidisciplinary care environment.
The Division of Hematopathology consists of 4 FTE and provides a broad range of services, including bone marrow pathology, flow cytometry, solid tissue hematopathology (lymph node and other sites), hematology core laboratory, coagulation, molecular hematopathology, and hemoglobinopathy diagnostics, and also provides training to residents. The successful candidate will contribute to hematopathology services in selected areas aligned with their expertise and interests; participation in all hematopathology service components is not expected. Hematopathologists are supported by a highly active molecular pathology laboratory providing NGS panels for a variety of myeloid and lymphoid neoplasms, as well as state-of-the-art flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry laboratories. Optical genomic mapping (OGM) is currently available as a research tool and is in the process of evolving toward clinical implementation. Research opportunities are available.

College of Medicine has an annual intake of 120 medical students with a commensurate number of residency training positions. The Department of Laboratory Medicine has distributed training sites in Saskatoon and Regina.

Qualifications:
Candidates must hold an MD degree, have completed specialty training in Hematological Pathology, be eligible for licensing with the
College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS) and hold or be eligible for specialty certification with the
Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Candidates may be eligible for regular licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan, depending on qualifications and practice role.
The successful candidate should be a team player who is able to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, staff, and management, and who functions well in a high-volume environment with a strong commitment to high-quality, patient- and family-centered care.
The successful applicant is expected to participate in the undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education programs of the Department of Laboratory Medicine in the Saskatoon Area.
Compensation is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The preferred start date for this position is January 2027. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

The College of Medicine has an intake of 100 students per year with a commensurate number of positions for residency training.
