Are you an OBGYN looking for an opportunity where your knowledge and skills are fully utilized and appreciated? Consider a rewarding locum at Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) in the heart of Kamloops and experience the gratification of practicing within a tertiary community hospital that truly values your expertise.

Live and Work in the Great Outdoors

Kamloops is a vibrant city of 100,000, at the northern extension of productive wine country in south central British Columbia. We sit in the middle of lakes, mountains, ski hills, and river systems. We enjoy biking, hiking, skiing, water sports, all right here in our backyard. Our community has an excellent educational system, organized sports, music and theatre. There are amenities not often found in smaller urban centres. University affiliations provide rejuvenation and an atmosphere to keep learning.

Your New Professional Family Awaits

At RIH, you will be joining a collegial team of medical professionals who are just as passionate about healthcare as you are. Our friendly staff and patient community create a warm and supportive environment, making your work both enjoyable and fulfilling.

Practice to the Full Extent of Your Capabilities

We offer the chance to engage in a wide range of procedures and services. With our nursery equipped to care for babies from 30 weeks’ gestation and an annual delivery rate of 1200–1400 births, your days will be filled with the joy of bringing new life into the world, primarily in a consultative capacity.

State-of-the-Art Facilities & Supportive Services

Our hospital is outfitted with the necessary equipment for minimally invasive laparoscopic and hysteroscopic procedures, ensuring you have the tools to provide the best care possible. We boast a robust support system featuring an OB Internal Medicine service and a comprehensive Diabetes Education Program to assist you in managing a diverse patient population.

RIH: Where Cutting-Edge Care Meets Community Warmth

Royal Inland Hospital (RIH), a 273-bed facility, serves as the primary referral centre for nearly 250,000 individuals within the Thompson Cariboo Shuswap Health Service Area. As the region’s leading tertiary referral hospital and Level 1 Trauma Centre, RIH expertly manages over 250 major trauma cases and accommodates 72,000 Emergency Department visits each year.

The Phil and Jennie Gaglardi Tower, a $417-million expansion opened in the summer of 2022, has propelled RIH into a new healthcare era, featuring advanced mental health units and surgical services. Upcoming enhancements include a new post-anesthesia care unit, a pediatric unit, and a revamped emergency entrance, with the full emergency department completion by autumn 2026. Further ambitious growth includes a $359-million cancer centre, set to enrich our cancer care services by 2028.

Our exceptional teams dedicate themselves to delivering comprehensive care across a broad spectrum of services, including internal medicine, OB/GYN, general surgery, orthopedics, ophthalmology, ENT, pathology, psychiatry, pediatrics, anesthesia, radiology, urology, and family practice inpatient care. We leverage our expertise and innovative facilities to provide the highest standard of healthcare to our community.
