IM Hospitalist Opportunity- Multiple Locations in South-Eastern Ontario

Our client is seeking internal medicine and family medicine hospitalist physicians to join a great collegial and supportive team!

Hospitalists are supported by a team of health care providers that includes nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dietitians, social workers, pharmacists, respiratory technologists, personal support workers and a number of other highly-trained professionals. Physicians benefit from 24-hour support from internal medicine, intensive care, general surgery, orthopedics, urology, pediatrics, anesthesia, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry, otolaryngology, and radiology. Diagnostic imaging on site includes Ultrasound, CT and MRI.

IM care is provided through a unique model of care with Internal Medicine hospitalist, Family Medicine hospitalist and Nurse Practitioner lead lines running daily. All lines run simultaneously and with their own MRP. The lines all collaborate daily to ensure the best care for patients.  

The Internal Medicine Hospitalist service acts as a clinical teaching unit with residents and two(2) Attendings, supported by an experienced multidisciplinary team including physician assistants. Additionally, Outpatient service is provided for referrals from ER and Inpatient units and is currently expanding.

Remuneration: Annual remuneration is $350,000 (FFS + stipend+ HOCC). Remuneration may fluctuate based on patient census, number of weeks worked and number of clinic days. 

Scheduling: A full-time hospitalist can expect to work 12-18 weeks (ward medicine + contribute to outpatient clinics: 2-4 clinic days/month)  The hours of work are 8:00 am to 5pm.

On-Call: A full-time hospitalist can expect 2 to 3, 24 hour on-call shifts per month.

Responsibilities include:

Inpatient care on our medicine, rehab, integrated stroke, and ALC units, and call. Hospitalists will be MRP for approximately 20-25 acute patients/daily. 

Position Requirements:

• Fully independent registration (or eligible for) with College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) 
• US Board Certified Physician are eligible for independent license in Ontario

Additional opportunity:

• Many physicians are affiliated with Queen's University as Assistant Professors and regularly participate in resident training.
• There may be opportunities for emergency medicine work. There are also opportunities in the area for clinic locums, OR assist, coroners work and more.
• Opportunities exist for ECG, Holter, PFT and Stress test evaluations.
• Opportunities exist to combine work with community practice in one of the local FHOs. The Family Physician Recruitment Program offers medical students up to $150,000 in return for a five-year commitment of full-time service to a community practice and hospitalist work is encouraged.
