The Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Alberta, in partnership with Alberta Health Services (AHS) in Edmonton, Alberta is inviting applications for a Locum Anesthesiologist position based primarily at the Royal Alexandra Hospital.
The successful applicant to the Royal Alexandra Hospital will have demonstrated proficiency at obstetric, thoracic, and trauma anesthesiology.
The successful applicants will be expected to apply for an Academic Clinical Appointment in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine and be willing to be involved in resident teaching and clinical research facilitation.
A team of more than 160 department members, the Department of Anesthesiology is composed of physicians, anesthetists, scientists, educators and allied health professionals who provide services to ten Edmonton hospitals, and referrals from northern and western Alberta. We are a major referral centre for Northern Alberta and the Northwest Territories with a referral based of over 1.5 million people. The Anesthesiology group provides services to patients at the Cross Cancer Institute, Grey Nuns Community Hospital, Leduc Community Hospital, Misericordia Community Hospital, Royal Alexandra Hospital, Stollery Children’s Hospital, Sturgeon Community Hospital and the University of Alberta Hospital.
The Royal Alexandra Hospital is located in the heart of Edmonton and provides general and specialized medical and surgical health services. As one of Alberta's largest surgical facilities, the hospital plays a lead role in the expansion and development of minimally invasive surgery, a rapidly evolving technique that helps patients heal and return to productive lives faster.
The successful applicants shall have / be eligible for certification in Anesthesiology with the Royal College of Physicians of Canada and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. Additional training in regional, acute pain, liver transplant, vascular, and cardiac anaesthesiology will be considered an asset.
