Company Description

Valley Regional Hospital (VRH) opened its doors to patients in 1992. The hospital serves the people of Kings and Annapolis Counties and provides specialty services as a referral centre for the Annapolis Valley and other areas of Western Nova Scotia. Located in Kentville, VRH is a 137 inpatient bed facility that provides inpatient, outpatient, and satellite care to approximately 80,000 residents. The facility completes approximately 5,800 cases/year with 800 deliveries/year. There is a full surgical program with after-hours surgical coverage for emergency and non-elective procedures.

 

Job Description

Valley Regional Hospital (VRH) is seeking locum hospitalist physicians to provide coverage for August 4-10, 2025 and September 15 to 28, 2025. The program currently consists of five hospitalist lines covering 7-15 acute patients. VRH is a close knit and very collegial site, providing ample support and a rewarding work experience. 

Expected Hours

  • The standard work week is 7 days on, 7 days off - open to discuss alternative scheduling such as weekend coverage, evening/overnight shifts, partial weeks, etc.
  • Full line and half line available. Frequency can be negotiated.
  • 8 am-5 pm daily, 7 days a week for the week you are scheduled
  • Remuneration is a daily rate of $1545.56 for a full line with additional call rates plus fee-for-service billings for anyone seen after 5 pm and before 8 am
  • There are also sessional rates for callback services which are subject to the prevailing annual MSU increase in accordance with the 2023-2027 Physician Agreement and any future negotiated agreements.

Compensation is provided by the service, and locum physicians are eligible to access the travel elements of the program, including reimbursement for kilometrage, per diems, accommodations (up to $300 per night), and airfare (up to $1,500), along with travel time up to 10 hours per week. Licensing fees for CPSNS are covered, and locum physicians may claim Facility On Call fees under specific conditions.
