Job Description

Physician Support is seeking a part-time physician for a Medical Digital Transformation Lead position.  Join Nova Scotia's thriving healthcare ecosystem, where your expertise is valued and your contributions drive innovative, compassionate care for generations to come.  This is a term position until the end of 2027.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as clinical lead on respective Zonal or IWK OPOR Steering Committees, contributing to implementation readiness, milestone tracking, and issue resolution.
  • Act as a liaison between Medical Affairs, OPOR leadership, and digital governance bodies.
  • Lead the Provider Adoption Council (PAC) for your zone or IWK to surface provider feedback and drive change adoption.
  • Represent your zone/IWK as a voting member of:
    • OPOR Clinical Operations and Advisory Team (OCOAT)
    • OPOR Provider Working Group
  • Champion and support local provider engagement, including monitoring and reinforcing OPOR knowledge transfer activities.
  • Present regular updates to Medical Advisory Committees (MACs) and relay operational calls to action.
  • Coordinate alignment of digital health initiatives within your zone/IWK to reduce provider burden and improve system cohesion.
  • Identify and address early signs of change fatigue; advocate for appropriate pacing and prioritization of initiatives.
  • Contribute to the evolution of provincial digital governance, including the transition of the Provider Working Group to a formal Medical Informatics Council.

Qualifications

  • Medical Doctor with current licensure in Nova Scotia.
  • Holds or is eligible to hold privileges within their respective zone/IWK.
  • Demonstrated interest in clinical informatics, digital transformation, and physician engagement.
  • Proven communication and leadership skills; ability to navigate complex systems and drive adoption.
  • Prior involvement in OPOR, informatics leadership, or CIS implementation is considered an asset.
  • Willingness to complete formal training in clinical informatics (e.g., Oracle Health Physician Architect Program).

Additional Information

To Apply:

Please submit your expression of interest and CV outlining your experience in relation to the accountabilities for the position to Danika Woodburn, Director Physician Support OPOR at ***@nshealth.ca (🔒 Premium)

These roles are funded through the OPOR program through December 2027, with discussions ongoing regarding longer-term support. FTE allocation may vary based on zone size and clinical engagement needs (e.g., two MDTLs in Central Zone to support both QEII and Dartmouth General sites). MDTLs will receive formal training through Oracle Health and other informatics-focused professional development to support them in this work. The goal is to embed physician leadership across all zones and IWK to enable safe, efficient, and sustainable digital care delivery.

Practicing in Nova Scotia

Physicians in Nova Scotia provide fulfilling patient care which embraces family life, professional development and community involvement. That's what makes practicing medicine in Nova Scotia unique. Physicians are increasingly attracted to practices that offer team-based care to their patients and allow them to consult with their peers. The size and scale of Nova Scotia allows for better connections across the health care system. Your practice of medicine and your life is richer here. Nova Scotia is more than medicine.

Building a Diverse Workforce

The Physician Recruitment Team at Nova Scotia Health lives and works in Mi’kma’ki, the unceded and ancestral territory of the Mi’kmaq people. We are dedicated to equity, diversity, inclusion, and truth and reconciliation, and we are working to support medical communities that are reflective of and responsive to the diverse populations they serve in Nova Scotia. We welcome physicians from diverse backgrounds and experiences to join us in building healthier, more equitable communities across the province.
