Locum Hospitalists for our new Hospitalist Program!
Location: Elliot Lake, Ontario

Are you a physician looking for a rewarding locum opportunity with the perfect balance of work and leisure? St. Joseph’s General Hospital in Elliot Lake is inviting locum physicians to join our collaborative and supportive team.

About SJGHEL
Our hospital serves Elliot Lake and surrounding area and is comprised of a 55-bed acute medical/surgical program along with a 6-bed level 2 advanced intensive care unit (ICU). The ICU is an open unit where general surgeons, anaesthesiologist, and physicians have admitting privileges. The Hospitalist Program is also supported by a Nurse Practitioner and our Family Health Team. The hospital has 24/7 lab and diagnostic imaging capabilities which includes a CT scanner to provide necessary diagnostic capabilities. At SJGHEL there is a multidisciplinary approach to care comprised of Nursing, Allied Health Professionals, and a Specialized Geriatric Inpatient Consult Team. The team provides a patient centred approach to care that focuses on interdisciplinary responsibility and accountability for positive patient outcomes.

24-hour Emergency Department
24-hour Obstetrics on-call
55 acute medical/surgical program beds
Full-range laboratory onsite and on-call
Six-bed ICU, including virtual critical care support from Health Sciences North/
Satellite Renal Dialysis Unit
OTN Services
Clinical Dietician and Diabetes Education Program
Surgical Program 24/7 Onsite and on-call anaesthesia.
CT Scanner, x-ray, ultrasound, ECHO, and bone density, onsite and on-call
In-house and Satellite Oncology Services
Infusion Clinic
Hospice Suite
Onsite Chapel

Visiting specialist and surgeons include:

Gynecology/Obstetrics – that provide consultations and do surgery.
Ophthalmology – that provide consultations and do surgery.
Otolaryngology (ENT) – that provide consultations and do surgery.
Nephrology
Paediatrics
Psychiatry
Urology

Candidates must:

Have (or be eligible for) Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
certification.
Be (or eligible to be) licensed to practice as an Internist or Family Physician in the
Province of Ontario.
Have (or be eligible for) certification in ACLS or ATLS.
Have (or be eligible to obtain) Canadian Medical Protective Associate (CMPA) coverage.
Have excellent clinical skills.
Have a commitment to patient safety and high standards of care.

Remuneration
Compensation is based on a combination of a weekly stipend of $10,000 and Fee-for-Service billings.
