Job Description

Locum Opportunity – Family Physician (Short-term Coverage)

Location: Kitchener, Ontario

Start Date: July / Early August 2026

Duration: 6 months

Days per Week: 4 days (2 in-person, 2 virtual)

Seeking a locum family physician to provide short-term coverage to cover a maternity leave. Practice offers a supportive, collegial environment and a mix of in-person and virtual care.

Practice Details:

  • Family Health Organization (FHO) Group Size: 9 physicians
  • Clinic Team: 5 on-site physicians, 1 nurse practitioner, 1 mental health nurse, 3 receptionists, 1 nurse
  • EMR: PSS
  • Call Requirements: Thursday evenings (every other week) and 1 Saturday every 9 weeks; walk-in appointments manage coverage

Work Schedule & Responsibilities:

  • 2 in-person clinic days (average 6 hours/day, ~20–25 patients on Mondays; ~10–15 patients Tuesday–Thursday)
  • 2 virtual phone appointment days
  • Support from a well-trained nurse for vitals, history, and vaccines during in-person days
  • Dedicated exam rooms and shared office space, all equipped with computers and printers
  • Opportunity for unpaid vacation during the locum, depending on group coverage

Compensation:

  • Daily Rate: $550 per half day (includes OHIP hourly pay)
  • 100% of shadow billing and third-party payments
  • No overhead
