Locum Opportunity at a FHO/FHT Group Practice in North Hamilton

A physician in a 2-member group practice in North Hamilton is seeking long-term locum coverage for 4 days per week starting in September 2026 (start date flexible and the opportunity could start as early as July if desired). Part of the Hamilton Family Health Team and a large 22 member FHO, this practice offers an excellent opportunity to provide team-based care in a collegial and supportive environment.

The successful candidate will care for a roster of approximately 1,650 patients and can expect to see approximately 16 to 22 patients per full day or 8 to 12 patients per half-day. Patient appointments are typically booked in 10-to-20-minute intervals with additional time allotted for complex cases.

The practice is supported by a dedicated team that includes experienced Physician Assistants, 3 full-time medical receptionists, and a practice manager who handles billing. The Physician Assistants provide valuable support including patient care, reviewing results/reports, patient forms, and other clinical duties. As part of the Hamilton Family Health Team, the practice also receives support from additional allied health professionals including a dietitian, mental health counsellor, psychiatrist, and pharmacist and respiratory therapist.

Typical practice hours are 9 am – 5 pm (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursdays), with 6 hours allocated to patient appointments, 1 hour for lunch, and approximately 1 hour for admin time, and half-days on Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 am - 12:30 pm with one hour for admin time. Each clinical half-day will include a half-hour of indirect patient care time for follow-up and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will also be available to provide after-hours on-call coverage to the FHO for 16-18 shifts (including 2-3 weekends) over a 12-month period.

The clinic is conveniently located in North Hamilton just 10 minutes from Hwy 403. The practice includes free parking as well as 2 exam rooms and a private office for each physician as well as an additional room dedicated to allied health professionals. The office is outfitted with brand new computers, and uses the Wellx tool to communicate with patients, Telus PS Suite EMR, and AI Scribe. This setup provides a smooth and efficient workflow, optimizing time spent on clinical duties.
