Pulse Family Practice is seeking a locum family physician for 6-month maternity leave coverage, starting August 17, 2026. Join a collaborative and supportive team in a modern clinic located at The Boardwalk in Waterloo.

Opportunity Details

• Start date: August 17, 2026
• Duration: 6 months
• Schedule: 3.5 days per week (7 half days)
  • Monday – Full day
  • Tuesday – Morning only
  • Wednesday – Full day
  • Thursday – Full day
  • Friday – Every 6th Friday
• Clinic hours:
  • 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
  • 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
• Estimated patient volume: Up to 10 patients per half day

• Clinic: Pulse Family Practice
• Address: 435 The Boardwalk, Suite 203, Waterloo
• Located in a busy medical and retail hub with nearby shops, restaurants, and free parking.

Family Health Organization (FHO)

• FHO size: 28 physicians
• On-site physicians: 5
• On-call expectations:
  • Approx. 1 weeknight per month
  • Approx. 1 weekend every 6 months

Call Details

• Weeknight call:
  • Clinic hours shift to 1–4 PM, followed by call from 5–8 PM
  • Typically low volumes
  • Supported by 2 staff members
• Weekend call:
  • Approximately 4.5 hours
  • Supported by 1 staff member
  • Typical volumes up to 22 patients

Clinic Environment

• Support team:
  • 3 secretaries
  • 2 nurses
  • Billing specialist (assists with OHIP billing errors)
• EMR:
  • Telus PS Suite
  • Remote access available
  • Ocean for forms and patient communication
• Workspace:
  • Two exam rooms dedicated to the locum
  • Private physician office
  • 10 exam rooms total in clinic
  • Shared kitchen and large outdoor balcony

Compensation

• Under FHO+ (April 2026) physicians can directly bill the Ministry of Health for direct and indirect care
• Top-up provided to ensure a competitive daily rate
• No overhead or revenue split
• Primary physician retains:
  • Shadow billing
  • Out-of-basket billing
  • Third-party forms/notes
  • WSIB billing
