Waasegiizhig Nanaandawe’iyewigamig (WNHAC) is actively seeking LOCUM Family Physicians for Kenora and the surrounding First Nation's communities. OPTIONAL Emergency Department shifts available
Waasegiizhig Nanaandawe’iyewigamig's purpose is to foster healthy Anishinaabeg and communities through traditional and contemporary health care encompassing mind, body, heart, and spirit. Through a community clinic and expansion into the surrounding First Nation's communities, WNHAC offers primary health care and prevention using an interdisciplinary team and combining traditional and contemporary approaches to health and healing. Complementary programs include a residential healing program and hostel accommodation for people accessing hospital services in Kenora.
WNHAC provides services in the following areas:
- Assessment, diagnosis and treatment
- Preventative health care
- Health education and promotion
- Traditional health care
- Mental health and wellness
- Diabetes education and specialized care
- Nutritional counselling and support
- Midwifery and reproductive health
- Early child development and nutrition, and so much more
Required Qualifications:
- Current (or eligible to apply for) valid independent license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
- Optiona: Emergency Department work requires current ATLS, ACLS, and PALS training, CCFP or CCFP (EM), or FRCP (EM)
- Physicians must have cultural sensitivity to the unique needs of First Nation's populations, as well as a commitment to wholistic, person-centered, and culturally-safe care including an openness to traditional and western medicine practices.
