Brightshores Health System

Brightshores Health System (Brightshores) operates six hospitals in the Grey-Bruce region serving a population of approximately 170,000. Our vision is to offer quality health care close to home.

Our hospital in Markdale is a brand new hospital that opened in September 2023. Markdale site has a range of ambulatory, in-patient and emergency services and is located 40 minutes South of our Level 2 regional referral centre in Owen Sound.  Our supporting Owen Sound site offers a full range of specialty services including complex surgeries, total joint replacements, cancer surgeries, MRI and CT scans. 

Team

Community family physicians staff the 24 hour Emergency Department and also run independent practices.

Family practice opportunities exist within the communities of Markdale, Flesherton, and Dundalk, located on Highway #10 about 100 km north of Brampton. There are also several villages in the Centre Grey area. Light manufacturing, agriculture, small business, artists, artisans and recreation all contribute to the local economy.

 Local back-up physician scheduled daily. 

Service Delivery

Inpatient Hospital Coverage 

ED Shifts are 12 hours (8a-8p/8p-8a) or full 24-hours if preferred.   

Lab, imaging on-site, with 8-bed inpatient unit.  

We have excellent specialty back-up at our Level 2 regional referral centre in Owen Sound and comprehensive diagnostic imaging.

Qualifications

Interested candidates should be CCFP or CCFP (EM) designated.

Independent license to practice in Ontario.

Compensation

Competitive hourly rate (Alternate Funding Agreement) plus percentage of shadow billings.
