Job Description
Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (TBRHSC) currently has vacancies for Locum Hospitalists.
TBRHSC is a state of the art, 400+ funded bed acute care facility. Our hospital provides coverage to a regional population base of 250,000 and delivers all services, including Cardiac Surgery by 2026. We are also the Regional Trauma Centre and Cancer Referral Centre for Northwestern Ontario. For more information, please visit us at: http://www.tbh.net .
The Hospitalist service provides in-patient, Most Responsible Physician (MRP) care for unattached or “orphan” adult patients over the age of 17 years, who have a primary medical diagnosis or condition and do not have a family physician or a family physician with admitting privileges at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. Occasional supportive medical care is also provided to Adult Mental Health and Forensics patients on nights and weekends. On these units the Psychiatrist assumes the Most Responsible Physician role.
Our Hospitalist Service is comprised of Internal Medicine and Family Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants. The Service runs 8 Physicians daily (6 Rounding, 1 Admissionist, 1 Nocturnist). The Rounding and Admissionist Hospitalists are provided a list of patients daily from the Hospitalist office staff for Monday through Friday, or at Admitting on weekends and Statutory Holidays. Physicians are then responsible for all calls concerning their patients for that designated day’s working hours. Each physician working within the Hospitalist Team is expected to rotate through both the Rounding, Admissionist and 4pm-8pm roles as assigned.
The preferred candidate will be eligible for licensing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and will qualify for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. This locum opportunity is supported by the Northern Specialist Locum Program (NSLP), urgent locum tenens program.
We invite all interested and qualified candidates to submit an expression of interest and CV to the Medical Affairs Office by e-mail to [email protected].
