Locum Physician Opportunity –
Geraldton District Hospital – Flexible Assignments in Primary Care and/or Emergency Medicine
Location: Geraldton, Ontario
Hospital: Geraldton District Hospital
Position Type: Locum Family Physician – Primary Care and/or Emergency Medicine
Assignment Duration: Minimum 4 days – flexible dates available throughout Summer
How to Get Here
Geraldton is approximately a 2-hour drive northeast of Thunder Bay along Trans-Canada Highway 11. Fly into Thunder Bay from Toronto or Ottawa, then travel by rental car. Travel planning support is available. Travel, accommodations and travel time reimbursed though the Ontario Health Rural Family Medicine Locum Program (RFMLP).

Assignment Overview
- Clinic: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., average of 10–12 patients/day
- ED: 24-hour shifts, average 15–20 patients, with NP managing ~85% of CTAS 3–5 cases
- Access to imaging, lab, allied health, telemedicine, and virtual ED peer support
Compensation and Reimbursement
ED Shift (24 hours): $3100
Clinic Day: $1,142.92
Travel Days:
- Less than 4 days: $760
- 4+ days: $1,270
All travel costs (flights, car, gas, accommodations) are reimbursed via the Ontario Health Rural Family Medicine Locum Program (RFMLP).
Housing and Additional Incentives
Locums receive fully furnished accommodations with gym equipment and a sauna. Also included: free gym membership and grocery stipend. All expenses reimbursed.
ACLS, ATLS, and Indigenous Cultural Safety course expenses can be reimbursed if the certification/recertification takes place within 6 months of the locum assignment.
Licensing Requirements
A valid CPSO license is required. We provide support to ensure credentialing is completed efficiently.
