Department of Psychiatry
St. Michael’s Hospital – Unity Health Toronto
University of Toronto
St. Michael’s Hospital – one of the sites of the Unity Health Toronto healthcare network – is a fully-affiliated University of Toronto teaching and research institution located in the heart of downtown Toronto. The Department of Psychiatry is seeking a locum Psychiatrist to work full-time in the Mental Health and Addictions Service for a one-year term.
St. Michael’s Hospital serves a diverse community, often caring for the most vulnerable and marginalized populations. As an academic health institution, there is a vibrant community of learners and a program of continuing practice development for staff physicians. The hospital and department are committed to providing care that is accessible to all and accountable to the values of equity, inclusion and anti-racism.
The successful candidate must hold a Medical Degree and be certified in Psychiatry by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Applicants must also have independent licensure through the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
The ideal candidate will have exemplary clinical skills, be equipped to work in an active interdisciplinary clinical environment and be dedicated to the highest quality of patient care. Clinical responsibilities will include providing psychiatric care in our Outpatient and Community Psychiatry programs. Current clinical needs include Shared Care consultations to the St. Michael’s Academic Family Health Team and working alongside psychiatry colleagues and an extensive multidisciplinary team for two community outreach teams serving individuals with severe persistent illness: FOCUS, a Flexible Assertive Community Treatment team, and STEPS, a first-episode psychosis team.
The anticipated start date is November 1, 2025 but is negotiable.
Remuneration will be based on OHIP fee-for-service and any dedicated stipends for the clinical roles.
Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
