The Division of Palliative Care at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre is inviting applications for a full time Palliative Medicine physician to join its team.

Our program serves patients at TBRHSC (acute care), St. Joseph’s Care Group (palliative care unit) and in the community. The program provides inpatient service, outpatient clinics, home and community care. We work closely with the Regional Cancer Centre, and provide telehealth consultation in rural and remote communities across Northwestern Ontario. Average call coverage is 1/6 weeks to support patients in Thunder Bay and the Region.

We are seeking a physician who values the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of patients and their loved ones. The successful
candidate will be committed to working collaboratively with the care team and is dedicated to communicating openly with their patients and colleagues.

The goal of the program is to improve the quality of palliative care for patients in the Northwest region of Ontario. This person will be part of a wider team implementing recommendations outlined in the Regional Palliative Care Plan – North-West LHIN.

Teaching, research and continuing professional development opportunities for physicians are offered through numerous institutions, including: the Local Education Palliative Care Group, TBRHSC, the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM), and the Thunder Bay Regional Health Research Institute (TBRHRI).

Our hospital is a 395 funded bed acute care facility which provides coverage to a regional population base of 250,000 people. Delivering all services daily including acting as the Regional Trauma Centre and Cancer Referral Centre for the Northwestern Ontario region with plans to include Cardiac Surgery by 2028.

The preferred candidate must be eligible for licensing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and have certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
