The De dwa da dehs nye>s Aboriginal Health Centre (DAHC), located in Hamilton, is currently seeking a family physician to provide part-time coverage, working 20 hours per week (2.5 days/week), ideally starting in August or September 2025. Office hours are 8:30-4:30PM on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, 8:30-6:00PM on Wednesday and 8:30-3:00PM on Friday. As part of a 2-physician and 3-nurse practitioner team, the successful candidate will be required to provide coverage for the other physicians or nurse practitioners when necessary.
The DAHC provides care to individuals with Indigenous ancestry (First Nations, Inuit, and Métis) that includes illness prevention and screening, assessment, treatment and monitoring, counselling, chronic disease management, pre- and post-natal care, and more. The ideal candidate will have an interest and understanding of approaches to care that respect wholistic health and well-being and will be understanding and open to the unique needs and beliefs of each individual.
While working in a collaborative and supportive environment, the DAHC medical clinic offers excellent administrative support by two medical admin and is also supported by 3 full-time NPs, and an RN. The clinic also has access to Indigenous Patient Navigation, Traditional Healing, Medical Transportation for Seniors, Diabetes Education, and a Mental Health and Addictions Services.
This is a salaried position that offers a HOOPP pension and paid time off.
