Position Description:

The Department of Pediatrics (DoP), invite applicants to apply to this 1.0 FTE, Academic Medicine and Health Services Program (AMHSP) position at the Alberta Children’s Hospital, within Alberta Health Services, Calgary Corridor, Section of Pediatric Rheumatology.

This position is a 1.0 FTE (70% Clinical, 15% Research, 15% Education, 0% Administration (CARE Pillars)) with the relative contributions to academics, education and/or administration allocations flexible based on the successful candidate’s goals and interests in alignment with opportunities and needs within the section. 

The clinical portion of the position is the provision of the full array of subspeciality pediatric rheumatology consultation and follow-up in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. A proportional number of on-call services on evenings, weekends and statutory holidays will be provided by this physician.  The above CARE pillars can be altered based on the successful applicants' interests provided it matches the needs of the Section.
The physician is expected to have a defined research focus where their research allocation will actively help advance academic work in appropriate subject areas. Research and academic activities could include unique and novel approaches to clinical care and translational research. The physician will contribute, in proportion to their FTE, to undergraduate, resident and continuing medical education.

The successful candidates will join 7 other Rheumatologists and work with a multidisciplinary team of allied health professionals consisting of Nurses, Physiotherapists, Pharmacists and Social Workers. The Section of Pediatric Rheumatology is based at the state-of-the-art Alberta Children’s Hospital. The Department of Pediatrics has over 500 clinical and academic faculty members who are part of the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary.

The Candidate must have a Pediatrics and Pediatric Rheumatology subspecialty certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent.

The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
Must read, write, and speak English.
