Job Description

GENERAL PEDIATRICIAN

Brockville General Hospital

75 Charles Street, Brockville ON K7L 2V7

The Department of Pediatrics at Queen’s University invites applications for the position of General Pediatrician at Brockville General Hospital. This role and the successful incumbent’s time will be heavily focused on clinical service in the field of pediatrics.

The successful incumbent will focus on providing community-based consultative practice including out-patient clinic coverage in Brockville as well as on call and labor delivery suite coverage. The on-call rotation is 1 in 3 and there are approximately 300 deliveries annually.

As a joint appointee with Queen’s University, the incumbent will be part of Brockville General’s Women and Children’s Department which is currently comprised of two pediatricians, a general practitioner who practices pediatrics and pediatric gastroenterology, and three obstetrician/gynecologists.

In addition to clinical services (85-90%), academic responsibilities (5%) include participation in academic contributions including local educational activities at Brockville General Hospital upon request. Participation in Queen’s University and Brockville General Hospital’s CME annual events as well as research collaboration and quality improvement initiatives may also be required. The incumbent will play a vital role in administration (5-10%) by providing local leadership and participation in local and Faculty committees upon request.

The successful candidate will bring clinical expertise, a commitment to quality and patient-centered care and possess the ability to create meaningful connections with patients in the community of Brockville.

Qualified applicants will hold an MD degree (or equivalent) and have completed postgraduate qualifications in general Pediatrics prior to appointment. Candidates must be eligible for licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Preference will be given to those who either hold or are eligible for certification in Pediatrics (RCSPC) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Members of the Department of Pediatrics enjoy a competitive compensation package. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience and academic productivity.

Faculty and their dependents are eligible for an extensive benefits package including prescription drug coverage, vision care, dental care, long term disability insurance and access to the Employee and Family Assistance Program. Employees also participate in a pension plan. Tuition assistance is available for qualifying employees, their spouses and dependent children. Queen's values families and is pleased to provide a 'top up' to government leave benefits for eligible employees on maternity/parental leave. In addition, Queen's provides partial reimbursement for eligible daycare expenses for employees with dependent children in daycare. For more information on employee benefits, see Queen’s Human Resources.
