NIAGARA HEALTH
The Department of Mental Health & Addictions at Niagara Health seeks a highly skilled and motivated Psychiatrist with a track record for providing compassionate and efficient care to join the Department in growing this service. The Mental Health and Addictions Program offers a full continuum of evidence informed and recovery-based services across the lifespan. The Psychiatrist will be an integral member of the interprofessional team and will foster strong collaborative relationships with internal and external partners to support quality patient and family care.

We provide a full range of acute care hospital services to the 450,000 residents across the Niagara region, and we are one of the few hospitals in Ontario that own and operate a long-term care facility.

Current Group:
- 31 Physicians Total (full-time and part-time basis)
- 25 Psychiatrists and 6 Family Physicians
Call:
- Average 2-3 shifts per month
The Practice:
- Opportunities available in Outpatient Mental Health Services across three sites
- OHIP Fee for Service plus Sessional Funding
Academic Affiliations:
Since its founding in 1966, innovation has been the hallmark of McMaster University’s Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine and a major contributor to its international reputation for excellence.
The medical school has expanded to a regional campus in Niagara, which is located at Brock University. Students at the Niagara Regional Campus complete their clinical rotations in one of the six area hospitals with teaching done by the highly skilled and motivated hospital physicians.
Opportunities for strengthening and building strong academic partnerships are a priority for Niagara Health as the hospital has expanded into this new facility. We are interested in Physicians who will pursue a university faculty appointment and participate in academic activities within a strong regional community hospital setting.
In addition to McMaster, Niagara Health is building strong ties with other regional academic providers such as Brock University and Niagara College.
Qualifications Required:
- Independent license or eligible for independent license with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
- FRCP(C) Psychiatry
