The
Saskatchewan Health Authority is seeking a team oriented Psychiatrist to provide a generalized psychiatry service in Weyburn, SK and area. The position provides opportunity to work in broad areas of psychiatry ranging from children and adolescents to a senior population. The psychiatrist will be part of the multidisciplinary team that includes nurses, social workers, and psychologists and addiction counselors. The candidate will provide leadership for the team in a collegial manner and be ready to work with external bodies as required. In addition to regular clinic, the psychiatrist will provide in-patient service, emergency coverage on a rotational basis and travel to satellite clinics to provide services at least once a week as well as support other sites as needed. The position provides integrated mental health and addiction services including at a transitional house in Estevan for addiction, and day hospital in Weyburn.

Qualifications:
Certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) or have a valid letter of eligibility (Not required if eligible for Ministerial License with College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan)Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS) or be eligible forCoverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)A valid drivers licenseLegal entitlement to work in CanadaAcceptable referencesAn acceptable criminal record check with vulnerable sector searchExperience providing Generalist Psychiatry services within a catchment modelDemonstrable evidence in multidisciplinary approach of care/managementUnderstanding of Saskatchewan provincial laws and regulations of commitment and release of the mentally ill under the Mental Health Services Act would be an assetIn accordance with immigration requirements, preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents

The Weyburn Mental Health Centre has a 10-bed in-patient unit. Extensive community services made up of Child and Youth, Adult and Addiction Services, long-term rehabilitation programs; residential and apartment supportive living programs, group and transitional homes in Weyburn for rehabilitation. Staffing includes mental health therapists, nursing (in-patient and community), social workers, addiction counselors and psychologists.
