Psychiatrist – Full-Time

The Timmins and District Hospital (TADH) is seeking a full-time Psychiatrist to join our innovative, multi-disciplinary referral and teaching hospital in Timmins.

The Timmins and District Hospital's Mental Health Program is seeking a Permanent General Psychiatrist to join its team. Candidates with a special interest in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry would be welcomed. The service of General Psychiatry provides a variety of inpatient and outpatient services for patients in Timmins and across the District including a 22-bed adult and a 4-bed Child and Adolescent inpatient unit(s) for diagnosing and treating patients with a variety of serious mental illnesses. Psychiatrists can also provide ECT services to inpatients and outpatients, provide outpatient consultation and participate in the on-call roster with locum support. 

There is also an opportunity to teach and mentor medical students and family medicine residents, through affiliation with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine.

Position Requirements

Candidates must:

• have (or be eligible for) Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in Psychiatry
• be (or eligible to be) licensed to practice as a Psychiatrist in the Province of Ontario
• have (or be be eligible to obtain) Canadian Medical Protective Associate (CMPA) coverage
• have a commitment to patient safety and high standards of care

Remuneration

Compensation is a combination of Fee-for-Service, a lucrative Northern Specialist Alternate Payment Plan, and a HOCC On-Call stipend. 

Incentives

• The Timmins and District Hospital provides an incentive package up to $60,000 over four years.
• Applicants are eligible for a repayable interest-free loan up to $150,000.
• Applicants can apply for the Ministry of Health Northern and Rural Recruitment and Retention Initiative (N3R). The N3R Initiative includes an $84,718 incentive over a 4-year period for Canadian citizens and permanent residents who establish a full-time practice in Timmins.
