Rural Family Medicine Physician – Job Opportunities!

Are you looking for a rural practice that offers a flexible schedule, collegial team and high earning potential? Would you like to pay NO OVERHEAD?? We are currently recruiting 1- part time family physician to start as soon as possible at the Aguasabon Medical Clinic - Terrace Bay  Enjoy a wide scope of practice -comprehensive rural family medicine including clinic-based care, acute inpatient, emergency care, chronic care and LTC.  

We run a two-physician clinic located in the McCausland Hospital. As part of the North Shore Family health team, we share a Nurse Practioner, dietician, social worker/mental health worker and diabetes nurse with our neighboring clinic in Schreiber. The Aguasabon Clinic has 5 staff, with office manager, billing clerk and receptionist to fill the needs of doctors. The 24-hour on call Hospital emergency coverage is shared between the two Terrace Bay physicians and the two Schreiber physicians.  The clinic is conveniently located down the hall from the Emergency Department.

The McCausland Hospital is a 45-bed site - 10 acute/ 13 chronic and a 22-bed LTC. Services on-site include X-Ray, ultrasound, Laboratory, Chemotherapy and Telehealth services. The Emergency department is unique in that it is not typically overly busy and physicians usually take call from home or clinic with our excellent nursing staff providing triage service.  

The RNPGA (Rural and Northern Physician Group Agreement) provides several benefits to physicians including: guaranteed remuneration, overhead funding, specialized service incentives plus billings for evenings/weekends for these services; remoteness incentives, funding for 24 hours on call or emergency coverage. You'll have access to locum coverage 18. 5 days leave per year; New graduates may be eligible for the Northern Rural and Retention Initiative.

Terrace Bay and Schreiber are beautiful rural towns located at the top of Lake Superior in NW Ontario. We can be reached by air travel into the city of Thunder Bay then a 2-hour drive along the scenic TransCanada Highway. Our region serves approximately 3,000 residents.

The allure of living in a small town is often difficult to explain to those not familiar. The business community provides all the essentials and the larger urban areas are close by for a short weekend commute. The appeal of everything within 10 minutes will quickly catch up with you and you'll find a great deal of free time. Larger worries like crime or traffic will quickly disappear as they are not that present in small towns. The outdoors are minutes away - Lake Superior, hiking trails, beaches, fishing and hunting. Real estate and the cost of living are much lower than urban areas.
