Job Description
Alberta Health Services, South Zone - is actively seeking a full-time Rural Family Medicine Physician at the Brooks Health Centre, in the community of Brooks Alberta,
Responsibilities of the position are:
- Establish and maintain a full-time Rural Family Medicine practice in the community of Brooks. A full-time practice is generally defined as clinical engagement five (5) days per week, totaling approximately forty (40) hours, and/or providing an equivalent number of shifts consistent with other full-time FTEs, as assigned by the appropriate medical leader;
- Reside in, and maintain the community of Brooks as their primary residence;
- Operate a private community-based practice;
- Maintain a patient panel of no fewer than 1,000 patients within six (6) months of commencing practice;
- Obtain and maintain an AHS Medical Staff Appointment and hospital privileges, including but not limited to inpatient, outpatient, acute care, emergency department coverage (including participation in the ER call roster), and long-term care services;
- Comply with the AHS Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules, and applicable AHS policies;
- Join and actively participate in the local Primary Care Network;
- Collaborate with peers and interdisciplinary team members as part of the Zone Clinical Department (ZCD) of Rural Medicine at Brooks Health Centre to support integrated patient care;
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and programs within the ZCD of Rural Medicine and AHS more broadly, including the achievement of performance indicators as reasonably determined by AHS;
- At the discretion of the Community Medical Director, provide additional service coverage in Emergency Medicine, Low-Risk Obstetrics, LTC, and Acute Inpatient Care (Hospitalist), based on clinical competence and service requirements.
Qualifications:/Candidate Requirements:
Certification: Must hold or be eligible for Certification in the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP).
Licensure: Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) as a General Practitioner or be recognized as a specialist in Family Medicine.
Clinical Experience:
· Demonstrated experience in full-scope general practice, including low-risk obstetrics within the past 1–2 years.
· Independent Emergency Room and Acute Care Hospital experience in a rural setting within the past 1–2 years.
Certifications:
· Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – Required
· Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) – Required
