The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is seeking a highly skilled and team-oriented Thoracic Surgeon to join its Department of Surgery in Regina, Saskatchewan. Candidates must possess comprehensive fellowship training in Thoracic Surgery including Lung, Esophagus, Upper GI and Chest wall surgery. Preference will be given to candidates with specialized training and experience in minimally invasive/Robotic techniques and complex thoracic procedures. Preference will be given to applicants with Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons or American College of Surgeons certification.The successful candidate will be provided with guaranteed weekly OR access and ample procedural time in the ambulatory care and endoscopy units. The thoracic surgery program is fully supported by a top-tier Anesthesiology, critical care and nursing team. The new surgeon will be part of a collaborative environment with a 1 in 3 or 1:4 call rotation. Care will be provided at the Regina General Hospital, a 450 bed tertiary care and trauma hospital supported by a full compliment of Surgical, Medical and Diagnostic Imaging subspecialities. Call coverage is a mandatory aspect of this position.Candidates must demonstrate extensive experience and training in thoracic surgery suitable for an academic tertiary care level referral centre. The successful candidate will also need to show strong interpersonal and collaborative skills and the ability to contribute to the clinical and academic advancement of the SHA.
