Locum Opportunity – General Surgery
September 25, 2025 at 7:00am – September 29, 2025 at 7:00am
The Department of General Surgery at the Timmins and District Hospital is urgently seeking one locum General Surgeon to provide on-call coverage for the period noted above.
The Timmins and District Hospital is a 215-bed district referral and teaching hospital serving a local population of 41,000 and a catchment area of 110,000 in Northeastern Ontario. The hospital provides a full range of services including Medical, Surgical, Critical Care, Maternal/Child, Long Term Care, and Mental Health.
Details of TADH’s Surgical Department
- Surgeons at TADH perform approximately 1,500 inpatient and over 2,500 day surgeries annually.
- The department is supported by specialists in Pediatrics, Radiology, OB/GYN, ICU, Internal Medicine, ENT, Psychiatry, Addictions Medicine, Orthopedics, Anesthesia, Urology, Ophthalmology, and Nephrology.
- Surgeons have quick access to TADH’s state-of-the-art Diagnostic Imaging Department, including CT and MRI.
Remuneration
- $2,430 per day (comprised of NSLP on-call sessional $1,669/day, daily honorarium $363/day, and TADH daily stipend $398/day).
- All travel expenses (airfare/mileage, car rental, accommodations, and a travel stipend) will be covered up to a maximum, as per program guidelines.
Position Requirements
Candidates must:
- Hold Royal College certification in General Surgery.
- Be licensed to practice as a General Surgeon in Ontario.
- Maintain CMPA coverage.
- Hold an independent CPSO practice license and OHIP billing number.
- Demonstrate excellent clinical skills, commitment to patient safety, and high standards of care.
