Position Profile: The Department of Medical Imaging, Division of Diagnostic Radiology, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, at Western University, London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Health Care is seeking two (2) Vascular and Interventional Radiologists for full-time clinical academic appointment to Western University. Rank (Assistant, Associate or Full Professor) and appointment status (limited term or continuing) will be determined by experience and qualifications at the time of appointment.

 

The successful candidates will be expected to take an active role in the Interventional Radiology Division and must be dedicated to outstanding quality in clinical operations, demonstrated leadership, teaching and/or research. The candidates will be expected to provide academic and clinical services primarily at Victoria Hospital, the London Health Sciences Centre. The ideal candidates will possess a scholarly profile towards teaching and research/innovation.

 

Candidates will be expected to provide a full range of diagnostic and procedural clinical services required by an Interventional Radiologist based at Victoria Hospital, London Heath Sciences Centre, a tertiary, acute care regional centre with trauma, thoracic surgery, vascular surgery, obstetrics, paediatrics, and the Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre. Medical Imaging has strong collaborations with the associated clinical programs. Successful candidates are encouraged to build upon the current scope of minimally invasive image guided vascular procedures. The clinical schedule includes regular rotation to St Joseph’s where there is an ambulatory caseload.

 

Qualifications: The successful candidates will hold certification in Diagnostic Radiology with the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada or international equivalent and will need to meet the current credentialing requirements of LHSC and St. Joseph’s. Candidates must have an MD, or equivalent, and must be eligible for licensure in the province of Ontario. Subspecialty Fellowship training in Interventional Radiology is required. Additional sub-specialty expertise in another area will be a distinct advantage. The successful candidates will be self-starters, team players and be willing to participate in all aspects of academic imaging and intervention including on-call duties as required by the Chair/Department Head of the Department.

 

Compensation Details: Total remuneration from all sources, including fee for service and alternative funding plan, is anticipated to be in excess of $500,000 annually and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The Department: The Department of Medical Imaging at Western University an integrated city-wide sub-specialty practice across the three Hospital sites: University Hospital (UH) and Victoria Hospital (VH), collectively known as the London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC), and St. Joseph’s Health Care London (St. Joseph’s). The Department provides multiple regional services to a population of >2M.

 

There are opportunities for enthusiastic radiologists to contribute to the building of an integrated, multi-disciplinary and collegial Academic Medical Imaging Department in the Vascular Intervention Radiology Division.

Many national and international medical breakthroughs have been pioneered at LHSC, to the benefit of patients locally and around the world including the routine use of robotic surgical techniques for coronary artery bypass surgeries, routine and novel approaches for transcatheter aortic valve implantations, minimally invasive mitral valve reconstructions and complex reconstruction techniques of the entire thoracic aorta – all of which are heavily reliant on preoperative and postoperative multimodality imaging consultations. LHSC is also home to a strong established surgical program, the regional trauma center, and the Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre, a world class cancer care facility that provides comprehensive care to oncology patients from across Southwestern Ontario. Interventional radiology at Victoria hospital has a strong interventional oncology and interventional paediatric program with state-of-the-art angiography suites; floor mounted (1), ceiling mounted (1), and a biplane system (1), an IR-dedicated short stay unit, and access to a dedicated interventional 80-row MDCT.   

 

St. Joseph’s Health Care London (St. Joseph’s): St. Joseph’s Hospital is primarily an ambulatory care center and provides patient care that complements the acute care hospitals of LHSC. Current clinical imaging equipment has been recently upgraded to state-of-the-art technology, including a floor mounted angiography system.

 

Forest City Imaging Associates (FCIA): The successful candidates will join the Forest City Imaging Associates Business Group.
