Job Description
The Department of Surgery, Alberta Health Services – Calgary Zone and the University of Calgary invite applications for a Vascular Surgeon at the Peter Lougheed Centre in Calgary, Alberta. Qualifications include an MD and certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Vascular Surgery. The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. Fellowship training in stroke neurology is required. A master’s degree and Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation certification is desired.
The successful candidate is expected to work collaboratively with the other eight vascular surgeons in all surgical clinical activities including high volume open, endovascular, and hybrid techniques. All members of the section have some form of extra training in either branched/fenestrated aortic endografting, advanced open thoracic and thoracoabdominal aortic surgery, vascular trauma, or hybrid occlusive disease reconstructions.
The successful candidate will take call according to Alberta Health Services and Section policies. They will have access to an onsite office and clinic space at the Peter Lougheed Centre and will perform most of their procedures in our state-of-the-art hybrid operating rooms. Remuneration is through a Clinical Alternative Relationship Plan at 0.5 FTE allocation.
The successful candidate will also participate in the teaching of residents and medical students and is expected to apply for a clinical academic appointment with the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary. The candidate will be expected to participate in and lead research projects and include the participation of medical students and residents.
