Job Description

Introduction
Pacific Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine (POSM) is seeking a physician to join our team and be involved in the non-surgical management of patients. POSM is a multi-disciplinary clinic led by a group of 9 orthopaedic surgeons. The mission of POSM is to provide comprehensive and integrated musculoskeletal care to our patients. We are the primary referral centre for the Vancouver Coastal Health Region. Our geographically vast catchment area results in a high volume of patients, of all ages. At POSM we manage a broad scope of musculoskeletal disorders including acute trauma, sports and athletic injuries, as well as chronic and degenerative conditions such as arthritis. POSM is affiliated with the University of British Columbia.

Setting
POSM offers a turn-key practice in a newly built facility located in the Central Lonsdale area of North Vancouver, near Lions Gate Hospital. Our centralized patient referral intake and triage system promotes high-quality referrals. Through our multidisciplinary approach and direct affiliation with Lions Gate Hospital, we offer many care pathways including physician assessments, advanced practice physiotherapy assessments, education and counseling, non-surgical treatments such as injection therapies and bracing, surgical management (both acute and elective surgery), and rehabilitation. There are regular opportunities to collaborate directly with the surgeons for diagnostic clarification or to refer patients for surgical management. POSM is a paperless office (EMR) with a common patient database. Administrative support is provided by our office manager and a team of medical office assistants. Ambulatory radiology facilities are located within 1 block of the office.

Key Clinical Roles
• Referral triage: review incoming referrals and establish disease acuity/urgency for prioritization
• Assessment: assess and diagnosis various musculoskeletal conditions with a focus on sports/athletic injuries
• Treatment
o Recommend treatment plans for patients, including physiotherapy/rehabilitation and injury prevention
o Provide injection therapies, including ultrasound-guided injections
o Bracing – in-house off the shelf options or custom bracing
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, physiotherapists, or surgeons when necessary for further treatments or surgical interventions
• Participate in ongoing professional development and contribute to a culture of clinical excellence.

Remuneration
The position will be remunerated by a fee-for-service model. Additional significant income can be earned from uninsured services (eg. injection therapies).

Qualifications
• Appropriate subspeciality training and/or experience in musculoskeletal disorders.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach to care
• Proficiency in ultrasound-guided injection techniques
• Active license with the CPSBC (College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia)
• Active CMPA coverage

Qualifications:
Current College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC) License (Full); Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP) (Mandatory); Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP) Eligible (Mandatory); Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) (Mandatory)
