Welcome to Wawa!  Flexible Family Physician Locum Opportunities.

The Wawa Medical Group/ Family Health Team is a collaborative group of Physicians and Allied Health Professionals (NPs, RNs, PT, CDE, RD)  providing primary health care to the patients of Wawa and outlying communities of Dubreuilville, Hawk Junction, Michipicoten First Nation, Missinabie and White River.  The FHT clinic is conveniently located within the Lady Dunn Health Centre.  Client services include geriatric care, smoking cessation, OST, hypertension program, foot care,  etc.  In house cardiac stress testing and endoscopy program.  ATLS and ACLS required for ED coverage.  Well stocked ED with POCUS, CMAC and glidescope, VCC unit, OH ED Peer to Peer member, Physician ER backup. 

As we are currently filling in for a vacant position, we have availability and flexibility.  If you would like to try Wawa, but our dates don't fit your schedule, send us an email and we can work it out.

The locum will provide primary care to our local patients as well as emergency coverage for Lady Dunn Health Centre.

Practice Hours:                     8:30 – 4:30 clinic hours (patient appointments 10am-12, 1-4pm)

Patient Volume:                   Clinic: approximately 15 patients per day

                                             Emerge: approximately 17 visits per 24 hr (with NP assist)

Travel Allowance:                Travel costs reimbursed through HFO. Travel stipend $1270 return for travel >4 hrs, stay >4days.

Accommodation Provided:  Fully furnished locum apartments / houses  (onsite and offsite). Costs reimbursed through HFO

Call Arrangements:              Call shifts are 7am -7am.

Practice Model:                    RNGPA (Rural Northern Physician Group Agreement) ; EMR:  Accuro, Meditech Expanse

Compensation Details:   FM Clinic approx $1143; 24 hr ED call approx $4250; ATLS ACLS reqd. 

Teaching Opportunity:   The Wawa Medical Group frequently hosts medical students and residents from NOSM and other medical schools.
