Job Description
West Niagara Mental Health (WNMH) is recruiting a part time psychiatrist. The clinic has been caring for residents of Grimsby, Lincoln and other municipalities in the West Niagara area since 1997.
As an outpatient clinic, WNMH provides psychiatric care in three main streams: early intervention, addictions services, and general psychiatry. The early intervention stream aligns with the Ontario expectations for standards of care in early intervention (EPI) for psychotic disorders. Staff are oriented to an evidence-based philosophy using primarily behavioural and cognitive interventions. Psychiatrists are anticipated to provide clinical services as well as collaborate with administration and program staff on patient consultation, service planning, coordination of services, and program implementation.
As a site of Hamilton Health Sciences, West Lincoln Memorial Hospital and the West Niagara Mental Health Team aim to provide the highest quality care to patients in the community through accessible effective treatments, support to primary care practitioners, leading edge treatment innovations, support for admitted inpatients in medicine beds with comorbid mental health concerns (non-schedule one facility), rapid access to mental health assessments and treatment, and research. The successful applicant will also be part of McMaster University Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences as a geographical part time faculty.
Qualifications: Interested applicants must be a licensed psychiatrist with the regulating college (CPSO), be enthusiastic and commitment to teaching medical trainees and be eligible for a licence to practise in Ontario. Applicants must also satisfy the credentialing requirements of Hamilton Health Sciences.
To apply, please submit your CV and letter of interest to Dr. Maxine Lewis, City Wide Chief Psychiatrist [email protected] or Dr Maiko Schneider, Deputy Chief [email protected] by December 12, 2025.
Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) fosters a culture of patient and staff/physician safety, whereby everyone is guided by our Mission, Vision, Values and Values Based Code of Conduct. HHS is a teaching hospital and all staff and physicians are expected to support students and other learners.
HHS is an equal opportunity employer and will accommodate any needs under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedom, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and the Ontario Human Rights Code. Hiring processes will be modified to remove barriers to accommodate those with disabilities, if requested.
We would like to thank all who apply, but only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
