The main industry in the area is wood and a granite quarry, with tourism also playing a significant role.

Being a tourist area, which is usually quieter in the winter, flourishes in the spring, summer and fall.  If you are an outdoor enthusiast, you will love it here.  We are located 40 km from Dryden, 90 km from Kenora, approximately 300 km from Winnipeg, Mb and 400 km from Thunder Bay.

Vermilion Bay is proud of their elementary school located in the center of town and which also houses a daycare.  The high school is located in Dryden.
