Job Description
2-Month+ Locum Opportunity at a FHO/FHT Group Practice
Posting #50-050-25
A member of a large and well supported group practice is seeking locum coverage for 2.5 days per week for 2 months starting May 2026, with the opportunity to stay on for up to 8 months. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates looking to locum in a large group practice alongside residents, experienced administrative staff, and learners. As this opportunity requires academic appointment, candidates must submit their notice of interest no later than March 15, 2026.
Typical practice hours on full days are 9:00-5:00PM and shift times are 9:00-11:30AM and 1:00-4:30PM with an additional 30 minutes per half day allocated for inbox coverage. The locum will provide care for approximately 1,500 patients, and appointments are typically booked at 15-minute intervals (30 minutes for more complex patients, DM visits, MH visits, etc.). The locum can expect to see 16-18 patients per full day (or 8-9 per half-day) and may be required to monitor learners (residents and/or medical students) on occasion.
The practice is part of a Family Health Team and receives support from an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals including a nurse practitioner as well as a dietitian, clinical pharmacist, systems navigator, physical therapist, occupational therapist, social workers, among others. The practice also receives extensive support from a practice manager as well as a large team of administrative staff including receptionists, medical office assistants, a bookkeeper, and billing support.
The practice uses OSCAR EMR and each physician has access to 1-2 exam rooms and a workstation. Parking is free for staff at this location, and the building also includes both staff and patient washrooms.
The locum physician will receive an hourly stipend for their clinical work, and each clinical half day will have a half hour of indirect patient care time incorporated into the schedule. Locums with interest in resident education and experience in resident supervision would be an asset.
Interested candidates are advised to send their CV via email by March 15, 2026, to the GHHN recruitment team at ***@GHHN.ca (🔒 Premium) Please reference the posting number in the subject line.
