Family Physician for Cardiac Prevention and Rehab Program

Trillium Health Partners (THP) is the largest community based academic health network in Ontario serving over one million residents in the communities of Mississauga, Peel Region and West Toronto. The hospital encompasses three main sites – Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga Hospital, and Queensway Health Centre – offering acute care hospital services, as well as a variety of community-based specialized programs.

THP is a regional cardiac center with a full range of services including cardiac surgery, interventional cardiology (with a robust structural heart program) and electrophysiology. There are a total of 31 CCU/CSICU beds and 76 inpatient beds located at the Mississauga Hospital and Credit Valley Hospital.

We are seeking a family physician for the Cardiac Rehab Program who will provide 1 day a week coverage to support cardiac rehab patients as they further their recovery from a cardiac event. No experience is required. The candidate should have an interest in cardiology and a basic familiarity with cardiac diagnostics. Mentorship would be provided by a physician currently working in a similar position. In this role, the physician will work closely with the interdisciplinary team to support patient care. The position involves some patient education, medication titration, working with cardiac rehab technologists and communicating with cardiologists as appropriate. The position is supported through OHIP billings.

The organization is an affiliated academic teaching centre with the University of Toronto. The successful candidate will be eligible for an academic appointment. Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to an inter-professional care model is essential.
