Brockville General Hospital is an estimated 170-bed hospital in the city of Brockville. We are the largest hospital in Lanark or Leeds, and Grenville Counties, serving a catchment area of 170,000. Approximately 45-minutes from Kingston and an hour from Ottawa,

Brockville General is currently accepting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Chief of the Department of Family Medicine.

Position Summary
Working under the direction of the Chief of Staff, the Chief of the Department of Family Medicine provides clinical, administrative, and strategic leadership aligned to Brockville General’s mission, vision and values and strategic goals. You will ensure high standards
of care are met consistently, implement strategic initiatives and establish policies to improve patient outcomes and advance mental health quality. You will develop human resource plans, embrace a dyad model for leadership, and ensure quality monitoring and
improvement.
Qualified candidates should have significant clinical and administrative experience, leadership expertise and the ability to drive collaboration across the department. The Chief demonstrates skills in strategic management including clinical service delivery, risk
mitigation, as well as succession planning and retention. In addition, the Chief’s ability to drive a culture of continuous quality improvement while embracing the values of both Brockville General and our community are integral to the desired leadership style.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Family Physician and/or Hospitalist with strong clinical expertise, exceptional leadership abilities and a demonstrated ability to coordinate high-quality care and work with multiple teams. They are a visionary who sees
collaboration between the hospital and the community as a priority. This leader will have a forward-thinking approach, excellent communication skills, and a passion and understanding of how to enhance care delivery across our catchment area.
The ideal candidate must have an M.D. or equivalent, be board-certified in either Family Medicine (CCFP) or Internal Medicine (FRCPC) and have licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). In addition, the incumbent should possess great interdisciplinary collaboration skills and strive for excellence. Applicants are required to hold, or be eligible to hold, Active Hospital Privileges with the ability to provide clinical services consistent with other members of the Department.
Practice Environment
The hospital practice environment is comprised of 52+ acute medicine beds (which increase when surge spaces are utilized) and 54 rehabilitation beds with multidisciplinary teams including physiotherapy, rehabilitation therapy, occupational therapy, speech
language pathology, social work, dieticians, discharge planning, and wound care.
Specialized in-house services at Brockville General include GIM, general surgery, urology, radiology, psychiatry, orthopedics, and palliative as well as a 10-bed, level 3 ICU and certified stroke center. Brockville General is also equipped with ultrasound, 24/7 lab
including tele-radiology, XR, CT and an MRI. Cerner EMR which was recently launched as part of the Lumeo regional initiative. Both Ottawa and Kingston serve as tertiary referral centers.
