Job Description
Sorrento:
Sorrento, the "Heart of the Shuswap", is the town centre on the south side of the beautiful Shuswap Lake. Sorrento is an ideal community for a family having an elementary school in town, a middle school nearby at Carlin, and a fine secondary school in Salmon Arm to which students are bussed. The primary commerce and industries in the area include: agriculture, tourism, forestry, organic beer production, and market gardening. Sorrento offers excellent golfing, scuba diving, and parasailing in the summer. When winter hits it's time for snowmobiling, snowshoeing or visit one of the near by ski resports for downhill and croos- country skiing.
Sorrento and Area Community Health Centre:
Sorrento and Area Community Health Centre which is located in the heart of Sorrento Village is a newly renovated space with all new equipment. Currently we have a full time Nurse Practitioner. The space has ample room for a Family Physician. The space would be developed to suit the incoming Physician. A Physician working out of our Community Health Centre would be supported by an EMR, a full time Nurse Practitioner, receptionist and a very engaged Community Association. The clinic itself is a bright and open space located above the only pharmacy between Chase and Salmon Arm.
Practice Details:
The Sorrento and Area Community Health Centre Society (SACHCS) is looking for a Family Physician to join our full time Nurse Practitioner. The FFS Physician can share office space and overhead with the NP or establish their own office within the same building. The NP salary and benefits are paid by Interior Health. If desired, this is an opportunity to create a collaborative practice with an experienced NP.
The Community Health Centre is located in the centre of Sorrento above the only Pharmacy in the area. Allied health professionals such as a Physiotherapist, Chiropractor, Naturopath, and Dentist are located within a short distance of the Health Centre.
Hospital privileges would be available at The Shuswap Lake General Hospital in Salmon Arm which is a 25 minute drive east of Sorrento. Tertiary referral hospitals are located in Kamloops and Kelowna. The community of Chase, which is located 20 minutes to the West, has a Physician, an NP, Laboratory and Xray services, plus a limited hours ERD.
Obstetrics and ER duties are not required but can be arranged if desired.
For those interested, there may be opportunities to do outreach, locums or other short-term work within other Interior Health Communities.
