The University of Toronto at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Unity Health Toronto, in downtown west Toronto is recruiting for 1 general dermatologist for 2026. This is a unique opportunity with ample outpatient dermatology clinic time in our newly renovated clinic facilities within the hospital, and associated Academic Appointment at the University of Toronto. Responsibilities include outpatient general dermatology clinics and shared weekday daytime hospital dermatology coverage. The successful candidate will have strong communication and collaborative skills. DERMATOLOGIST, St. Joseph’s Health Centre, Unity Health Toronto
Unity Health Toronto is inviting applications for an Active Staff position in the Division of Dermatology at the St. Joseph’s Health Centre site in Toronto.
St. Joseph’s Health Centre is a key site within Unity Health Toronto, serving a culturally and economically diverse population of approximately 530,000. The hospital is a 400-bed facility that employs around 2,500 staff and includes 500 credentialed physicians. Recently, the hospital received a $1 billion investment from the Province of Ontario to build a state-of-the-art patient tower. Unity Health Toronto’s mission is to deliver compassionate care and advance healthcare excellence through education, research, and innovation. The Department of Medicine at St. Joseph’s Health Centre includes over 130 physicians across 13 divisions, committed to clinical care, education, and hospital leadership. Department members actively participate in undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing education programs at the University of Toronto, frequently earning teaching awards. The Department supports a comprehensive patient care experience, from acute to post-acute care.
The Opportunity:
The successful candidate will join a team of two dermatologists, one pediatric dermatologist, one wound care specialist, and one Mohs surgeon/dermatologist. The selected candidate will have access to outpatient clinic time in general dermatology at the newly renovated Ambulatory Care Centre within the hospital. Depending on the candidates interests there may be additional opportunity to work in a pediatric dermatology clinic, wound care specialty clinic, and/or monthly minor surgery clinics. They will also provide shared daytime coverage for inpatient dermatology consultations, rotating with our current dermatologists. The ideal candidate will have an interest in general dermatology and medical dermatology. Subspecialty training in complex medical dermatology, an interest in education, research, and or quality improvement/patient satisfaction would be considered assets but are not required. Compensation will be through OHIP billings (fee-for-service).
The successful candidate must possess exemplary clinical skills and professionalism, with evidence of excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills and a proven ability to work effectively in a team.
The role will also involve joining the University of Toronto Division of Dermatology with ample opportunities for involvement in medical education for residents and medical students with two core dermatology residency rotations based at our site.
Applicants must be proficient in English and eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto at the rank of Lecturer or higher. Certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, along with licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, is required. Candidates must also hold Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) coverage or an equivalent in good standing.
The start for this position is spring/summer 2026, or as mutually agreed.
