Description:
The individual will serve as a fee for service Cardiac Electrophysiologist. They will be expected to perform catheter based cardiac rhythm procedures 1 days per week and be in clinic a minimum of one day per week. They have special expertise in advanced ablation techniques. They will serve on one of the Cardiac Electrophysiology Inpatient Clinical Services (there are two based at Foothills) for 4–6 weeks per year. They will be on call for the Cardiac Electrophysiology Service 3–4 weeks per year.
They will follow patients through the Calgary Zone Cardiac Implantable Electrical Device Clinic and will have a general arrhythmia clinic.
In addition, the physician will have advanced expertise in Cardiac MRI to integrate in providing ventricular arrhythmia care.
The individual will contribute to the education of medical students (on the wards and in the research lab), as well as Medicine/Cardiology Residents and Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellows. The individual will have research interests in animal modeling, ventricular arrhythmia imaging, and EP translational work.
The successful applicant will have a detailed understanding of clinical and basic cardiac electrophysiology, along with experience in invasive electrophysiology studies and cardiac ablation procedures. They will have completed a cardiac electrophysiology training certification from the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (RCPSC) AFC Diploma or equivalent. The applicant should have extensive experience with atrial arrhythmia ablations, diagnosis of and successful ablations of supraventricular tachycardia, and the endocardial and epicardial ablation of ventricular tachycardia in both patients with and without structural heart disease. They will also be familiar in the management of CIED patients. The successful candidate will be able to perform in inpatient and outpatient patient care, along with on call.
In addition, the physician will have advanced subspecialty expertise and training in Cardiac MRI to integrate in providing ventricular arrhythmia care and familiarity with invasive CMR procedures. As well as research experience in working with animal models for ventricular arrhythmias to develop a translational research program. The individual will contribute to the education of medical students (on the wards and in the research lab), as well as Medicine/Cardiology Residents and Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellows. |
The successful applicant will have an excellent track record in education.
Eligibility for medical licensure in the Province of Alberta is required.
The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
Must read, write and speak English.
