Full-Time Locum Opportunity in Obstetrics & Gynaecology

November 2, 2026 – November 1, 2027

Almonte General Hospital is seeking a generalist Obstetrician/Gynaecologist to join its highly regarded Obstetrics and Gynaecology program for a full-time locum position from November 2, 2026, to November 1, 2027.

The Obstetrics and Gynaecology team is known for its collaborative culture, strong clinical standards, and genuine commitment to supporting one another. The successful candidate will join two other experienced Obstetrician/Gynaecologists and work alongside FM-OBs, Midwives, GP Anaesthetists, and an outstanding nursing team dedicated to providing excellent care for women and families throughout the region.

Almonte General Hospital provides low-risk obstetrical care (Level 1B), including deliveries beyond 36 weeks gestation, as well as a broad range of inpatient and outpatient gynaecological services. The hospital offers 24/7 epidural and Caesarean section capability, ensuring comprehensive support for both patients and providers. 

The position includes clinic responsibilities, operating room time, hospital-based ambulatory care, and obstetrical on-call coverage. Call responsibilities are shared equally among the three Obstetricians, creating a sustainable and balanced practice. Physicians enjoy generous access to operating room time, allowing for an active surgical practice, as well as access to colposcopy services and hospital-based ambulatory clinics if desired. The clinic, conveniently located adjacent to the hospital, is a fully established solo practice equipped with Accuro EMR throughout and supported by an experienced and highly capable administrative assistant. Physicians benefit from an efficient practice environment that allows them to focus on patient care while being supported by a team that is professional, responsive, and deeply invested in the success of the program.

Serving Almonte, Arnprior, Carleton Place, Renfrew, West Ottawa, and surrounding communities, the program currently averages approximately 400 deliveries annually and continues to grow alongside a rapidly expanding catchment population of more than 52,000 residents. The community's growth has created increasing demand for women's health services, making this a dynamic and rewarding opportunity for a physician who values both clinical variety and meaningful community impact.

The successful candidate must hold licensure in Ontario at time of locum commencement, and willing to remain within 30 minutes of the hospital while on call. On-call accommodation is provided by the hospital if required. Remuneration is by Alternate Payment Plan with supplementary Hospital On Call Stipends.
