Job Description
Aafiyat Medical Centre is seeking a Psychiatrist to join our Rapid Access Specialists (ARAS) program across the Greater Toronto Area.
This is a predominantly outpatient, clinic-based psychiatry role, ideal for a physician who wishes to focus on comprehensive mental health care, consultation services, collaborative care, and longitudinal patient management within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
Through Aafiyat's Rapid Access Specialists (ARAS) program, specialists benefit from established referral pathways, centralized administration, and collaborative care models designed to improve patient access and continuity of care.
You will join a multidisciplinary healthcare ecosystem that includes family physicians, pediatricians, endocrinologists, geriatric and internal medicine specialists, physiatrists, rehabilitation providers, pharmacy services, diagnostics, and allied health professionals — all under one roof.
This opportunity is ideal for a psychiatrist who values an established referral network, modern clinic infrastructure, administrative support, and the flexibility to build a practice aligned with their clinical interests.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialist-level psychiatric consultations for patients referred by family physicians and other healthcare providers
- Diagnose and manage complex or treatment-resistant psychiatric conditions beyond the scope of primary care
- Design specialist-level psychiatric treatment plans including complex psychopharmacological regimens
- Provide advanced medication management including polypharmacy, treatment-resistant cases, and medication optimization
- Support management of anxiety disorders, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, OCD, psychotic disorders, and other complex psychiatric conditions
- Provide second opinions and co-management for complex mental health cases, supporting rather than replacing the family physician relationship
- Collaborate with family physicians through a shared-care model
- Coordinate care with counsellors, psychotherapists, social workers, and allied health professionals within the Aafiyat ecosystem
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in compliance with CPSO standards
- Participate in quality improvement and patient-centred care initiatives
What We Offer
- Established referral network through Aafiyat Medical Centre's active family medicine and specialist base
- Multidisciplinary environment including family medicine, pharmacy, diagnostics, rehabilitation, and allied health services under one roof
- Administrative and billing support so you can focus on patient care
- Modern clinic facilities with EMR integration
- Flexible scheduling options
- Opportunity to develop specialty interests and focused mental health programs
- Growth opportunity within a rapidly expanding healthcare network with locations in Mississauga, Brampton, and Kitchener
Qualifications
- Independent CPSO license or eligibility for independent practice in Ontario
- Certification in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent recognized credentials
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to collaborative, patient-centred care
- Interest in shared-care and multidisciplinary practice models
