Alexandra Marine & General Hospital is seeking an Emergency Medicine Physician to support our 24-7 emergency department in Goderich, Ontario. Join a collaborative clinical team while enjoying one of Ontario’s most beautiful lakeside communities.

Our Emergency department specializes in quick assessment and treatment of patients with a wide range of illnesses from minor to life threatening. We are a Tele-stroke site and are able to assess and treat patient’s experiencing a stroke. We have immediate access to a neurologist via telemedicine. Our dedicated medical and nursing staff have extensive training in emergency medicine and stay current on best practices. The department is equipped with up-to-date equipment and technology to provide exceptional care. We have systems in place to consult specialists and transfer to other hospitals if higher level care is needed.

We offer an attractive package designed to support both new graduates and experienced physicians trained in Emergency Medicine:

✨ Compensation:

• Competitive Base Hourly Rate (Alternate Funding Agreement), 3A level site
• Percentage of Shadow Billings (higher percentages in July and August)
• Top up incentives in accordance with applicable funding guidelines

✨ Accommodations:

✔ Provided for the duration of any locum assignment

Emergency Shifts 

·        Day Shift: 08:00am to 04:00pm

·        Evening Shift: 04:00pm to 12:00am

·        Night Shift: 12:00am to 08:00am

·        One 4-hour overlap shift per week (1:00pm-5:00pm Wednesdays or Saturdays

Service Delivery, Support & Specialties

·        24/7 laboratory services

·        Diagnostic imaging, CT scanner, pharmacy, allied health professionals on site.

·        Cardiorespiratory team in house Monday to Friday 08:00am to 03:00pm.

·        Strong primary care presence locally with 13 family physicians situated directly across the street.

·        On-call general surgery (3 General Surgeons & 4 GP Anesthetists).

·        Obstetrical physician on-call and team on site.

·        Schedule I Mental Health facility with 20 inpatient beds, Psychiatrists and additional mental health workers on-site, with appropriate ER safe room.

·        MEDITECH: a fully integrated information system with onsite, office, and remote access

·        EMR: Patient Keeper

·        Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health – research involvement available

·        Funded teaching opportunities for AFA Members (supporting residents and elective learners)

·        Supports through: Underserviced Program (MoHLTC) and HealthForce Ontario
