Are you a newer grad seeking to build your experience in rural emergency medicine? Or are you currently practicing emergency medicine in a part-time capacity but looking for a more full-time commitment? You may be eligible for this exceptional opportunity here at Deep River and District Health through the Ministry's Tier 1, Emergency Department Recruitment Program, over a two year contract which provides financial incentive for your commitment to the Department and our community. 

The eligible physician would have an independent practice license with CPSO and valid OHIP billing number, and would not have previously worked in an Emergency Department in Ontario in a full-time position. The program is available over a two year full-time commitment which is a minimum of 28 hours/weekly or averaged out to 1456 hours a year. Our typical schedule includes 12 hour shifts, 0600-1800 and 1800-0600 with the option of working back to back shifts if preferable. In a 24 hour period, our current volume ranges between 35-42 patients with the majority being CTAS 3-5.

The Town of Deep River has an approximate population of 4200 people within a catchment area of 10000+.  Situated along the Trans-Canada highway and the beautiful Ottawa River, Deep River is just 2 hours west of Ottawa and 2 hours east of North Bay. The Hospital serves military members and their families from Garrison Petawawa, one of Ontario's largest Canadian Forces bases. The other primary industry in the area centers on Canadian Nuclear Laboratories, located in Chalk River, approximately 10 km outside of Deep River.  For those who enjoy the great outdoors, there are many seasonal activities to partake in, from camping, kayaking and biking in the summer months to cross country skiing, snowmobiling, and ice fishing in the winter.
