Brightshores Health System (Brightshores) operates six hospitals in southwestern Ontario with its Level 2 regional referral hospital located in the City of Owen Sound.  A full range of specialty services are offered through the Departments of Anaesthesiology, Medical Imaging, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Oncology, Hospitalist Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pathology, Paediatrics, Psychiatry and Surgery (ENT, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Urology).

 Thriving rural hospitals are located in the communities of Lion’s Head, Markdale, Meaford, Southampton and Wiarton, servicing a range of ambulatory, inpatient and emergency needs. The corporation services a catchment area of over 170,000 residents and more than 2 million short-stay visitors each year.

Opportunity

Brightshores is growing its corporate Rural Emergency Medicine physician group! With over 50 physicians currently providing Emergency Department (ED) coverage across our six hospitals, we are excited to offer a new opportunity in rural medicine. Corporate ED physicians will service up to two Brightshores hospitals and can explore short-term (3 months to 6 months) or long-term (1 year to 2 years) contracts. Coordinated scheduling across Brightshores sites offered.

Full-time positions:  12 hour shifts = 10 to 12 per month OR 24 hour shifts = 6 to 8 per month

Part-time positions:  12 hour shifts = 6 shifts per month OR 24 hour shifts = 4 per month

Options for enhanced corporate contracts including rural family medicine (+/- anesthesia), inpatient care, surgical assisting and/or Rapid Access Addiction Medicine clinic work are also available. Call us to create a practice mix that best supports your interests!

Note: Hospital privileges are granted across all six Brightshores sites, therefore extra ED shifts at other GBHS hospitals may also be available.

With annual ER volumes of over 95,000 visits across Brightshores’ hospitals, 24-hour labs, excellent specialty back-up, and comprehensive medical imaging (CT, MRI, PACS capability), our modern facilities are very well equipped.                                                                             

Qualifications

ED experience and ACLS, PALS certifications.

Applicable CCFP, CCFP-EM or RCPSC designation.

Independent license to practice in Ontario.

Compensation

Emergency Department Alternate Funding Agreement(s) with applicable hourly rates and related billings.
