Community Information:

If a collegial working environment in a diverse community practice within a 90-minute drive to the Canadian Rocky Mountains is what you are looking for, you’ve come to the right place!

RDRHC is a busy regional trauma centre, seeing ~55,000 patients annually. We see the 4th highest volume of major trauma in the province and are well supported by General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Ophthalmology, OBGYN, ENT, Urology, in-house ICU, Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, Respirology, Endocrinology, Nephrology, Oncology, Hematology, Infectious Diseases, Neurology (including acute stroke coverage), Adult and Child/Adolescent Psychiatry, Pediatrics/NICU, Geriatrics and Radiology/Interventional Radiology. Within our department we have allied health support for Social Work, a mental health crisis assessment team, physician assistants, home care/discharge planning, physiotherapy, and imbedded pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.

The department has a great mix of acuity with a supportive community of medical doctors, healthcare staff, and local consultant support for most specialties. We are affiliated with two major universities and are involved with training family medicine and emergency medicine residents and fourth year rural medical students. Teaching opportunities are available.
